Ayurvedic Treatment for Hemorrhoids
Haemorrhoid or painful piles disease that occurs due to distention and congestion of internal and external venous plexuses around the anal canal. At Vaidya Healthcare, the Ayurvedic treatment is initiated by the Avagaham bath which is considered effective in reducing inflammation in the anal canal and invigorating the whole body’s dead or less active cells. But, if the patient’s piles are found to be very critical, Kshara karma and Kshar sutra are followed as the less invasive surgical options. They are found to be beneficial in improving the quality of life post-Ayurvedic surgical intervention within a short duration of 14-21 days only.
Hemorrhoids commonly referred to as piles are swollen and inflamed veins in the last part of the intestine called as rectum and the anal opening from where fecal is eliminated from the body, anus. CLASSIFICATION OF PILES
Hemorrhoids are classified into external or internal hemorrhoids depending on the location of vein swelling and inflammation in the lowest part of the intestine. External hemorrhoids develop in the exterior skin covering the anus. The veins swell and form clots causing severe pain and bleeding from the anus especially during bowel movement. This condition increases the risk of infections and complications. Internal hemorrhoids are developed inside the rectum and generally don’t hurt as they have only few pain-sensing nerves.
AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR PILES ( HEMORRHOIDS )
- Kshara karma
- Kshara soothram
According to Ayurveda, hemorrhoids are developed from the vitiation of doshas in the body mainly the Apana vatha that control functions such as excretion of urine and stool from the body. Vitiation of doshas causes accumulation of waste products and varicosity of veins resulting in constipation and pain followed by bleeding during bowel movements.
Vaidya Ayurveda hospital offers safe and effective ayurvedic treatments for hemorrhoids. The treatment plan includes Ksharasoothram and Kshara karma therapy to provide instant relief from piles. Ksharasoothram therapy uses a medical alkaline thread seasoned with herbal medication and is used

Kshara karma therapy is an ayurvedic treatment technique to manage more severe hemorrhoids. This treatment technique also follows almost same method in which a probe is passed through the anal canal and to outside and is tied together. The Kshara Sutra gradually cuts, curettes, drains and heals the condition and controls the risk of infection and facilitates drainage of pus.

FAQ
What are hemorrhoids, and what causes them?
Hemorrhoids? they’re not pleasant. They’re swollen veins around your anus or rectum, and they show up for a lot of reasons. Straining too much, sitting for long periods, or even things like pregnancy can bring them on. They’re common, sure, but that doesn’t make them any less annoying to deal with.
How does Ayurveda treat hemorrhoids?
Ayurveda focuses on soothing and healing. Think herbal oils, calming pastes, and remedies like Triphala to keep your digestion on track. It’s all about addressing the root problem—whether it’s poor digestion or something else causing extra strain. It’s gentle, natural, and meant to restore balance.
Can Ayurveda cure hemorrhoids permanently?
That depends—on you, mostly. Ayurveda helps by fixing the causes and making sure your body stays in balance. But if habits like sitting too long or skipping fiber-rich foods continue, they might come back. The goal isn’t just short-term relief; it’s preventing them from returning.
What lifestyle changes does Ayurveda recommend for managing hemorrhoids?
Start with the basics—fiber is a game-changer. Add more fruits, veggies, and whole grains to your meals. Warm water is great too; it keeps things moving. And, honestly, avoid sitting for hours without a break. Even standing up for a stretch can help more than you’d think.
How long does it take to see results with Ayurvedic treatment for hemorrhoids?
It depends. If it’s mild, you might feel better in a week or two. If it’s more serious, it’ll take longer—maybe a few months. But the idea is lasting relief, not just quick fixes, so it’s worth the time and effort.
